Dr. Uthra Rajamani - Singer/Musician

Dr. Uthra Rajamani is a karnatic classical vocalist who hails from Chennai, India. She began her musical training at the tender age of 3. Her initial training was under Smt. Parvathi Raman for seven years. She then commenced advance training under the renowned Bombay Sisters, C.Lalitha, C.Saroja. She has undergone training under her Grand Guru Vidwan Sri TK Govinda Rao. She has also vocally supported her Gurus, the Bombay Sisters, in concerts during 2003-2004 Navaratri and December music season. Under their training in the Musiri Subramania Iyer bhani, she grew to become a performing singer having appeared in numerous stages during the December Music festival and Navaratri festival in Sabhas including the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Naada Inbam, The Mylapore Fine Arts, Indian Fine Arts Society, Thirumala Thirupathi Devasthanams, Chennai Fine Arts, and more.  

After getting married she moved to live and obtain a doctorate in science in Cape Town, South Africa where she kept her music going and performed at numerous events and occasions such as the ISKCON Rath yatra at Sea Point, The Rylands Shivalayam Temple in Cape Town, The prestigious Artscape theatre, Cape Town, WITS auditorium in Johannesburg, Music festivals in Peter Maritzburg and in Port Shepstone and the Cato Manor temple n Durban. Uthra also recorded for the University of Cape Town for the demonstration of classical and western fusion and their similarities in the 2 musical styles.

Eventually, Dr. Uthra Rajamani moved to the United States in 2012. Since the she has performed at the Thyagaraja Aradhana in the Pittsburgh Venkateshwara temple while living in the Pittsburgh area for a year. She then moved to the west coast with concerts to her credit at the Siddhi Vinayaka temple, Sacramento and the Radha Krishna mandir, Sacramento. When she moved to Hollywood, Los Angeles in 2014, she took to more performances at several venues including the Vendanta temple, Ramakrishna Math in Hollywood and Shri Panchamukha Hanuman temple in Torrance.


Dr. Uthra Rajamani has hosted/anchored a chat show in Doordarshan (Podhigai) Chennai (A Govt. owned television channel), having interviewed several literary and movie celebrities. She has anchored musical programmes for overseas television channels such as vectone TV and Dish Asia Network (DAN TV).
